Application requirements of Precision Round Steel Bar

Precision round steel bars (Precision Round Steel Bar) in the aerospace field need to meet the requirements of high strength, high precision and high reliability under extreme working conditions. The core application standards are as follows:
1 Extreme material performance
High strength and lightweight: Use ultra-high strength steel (such as 300M steel, tensile strength ≥1960MPa) or titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V, specific strength 58MPa・m³/kg) to meet the requirements of load-bearing components such as fuselage skeleton and landing gear. At the same time, the purity is improved through vacuum melting (gas content ≤5ppm), and the fatigue life must reach more than 10⁸ cycles.
High temperature resistance and oxidation resistance: Aircraft engine shaft parts need to use nickel-based high-temperature alloys (such as Inconel 718, 650℃ endurance strength ≥735MPa), and the surface is treated with a layer (such as PVD titanium nitride plating, hardness HV2000+), and the oxidation resistance temperature is increased to above 900℃.
2 Dimensional accuracy and surface quality
Geometric accuracy: The diameter tolerance of precision shafts (such as turbine shafts) must be controlled at IT3-IT4 level (such as φ30h3, tolerance ±0.0035mm), cylindricity ≤0.002mm/100mm, coaxiality ≤φ0.005mm, and full inspection with three-coordinate measurement (accuracy ±1μm).
Surface integrity: Roughness Ra≤0.2μm (rolling bearing mating surface), key parts need to be rolled and strengthened (surface hardness increased by 20-30%, residual compressive stress ≥-500MPa) to prevent stress corrosion cracking.
3 Environmental adaptability and reliability
Corrosion-resistant design: Components in coastal environments need to be cadmium-plated + sealed (thickness 8-12μm, neutral salt spray test ≥1000h), or stainless steel (such as 17-4PH, corrosion rate ≤0.005mm/a after passivation).
Extreme working condition verification: It is necessary to pass high and low temperature cycle test (-55℃~+125℃, 100 cycles of dimensional change ≤0.001mm), vibration fatigue test (frequency 20-2000Hz, acceleration ≥10g) to ensure stable performance in supersonic airflow, strong impact and other environments.
4 Quality traceability and standard certification
Production must comply with AMS (Aerospace Material Specification) and NAS (National Aviation Standard). Key processes (such as heat treatment and grinding) implement SPC statistical process control. Batch products must provide ultrasonic flaw detection reports (defect equivalent ≤φ1.2mm) and grain size detection reports (aviation steel ≥10 grade) to ensure traceability for more than 10 years. Typical applications include aircraft engine compressor shafts (precision IT4, life 100,000 hours), missile guidance system precision screws (lead accuracy ±2μm), etc., which directly affect flight safety and mission accuracy.
