Solution to overheating of stainless steel piston rod

Sep 18, 2023

Install accurately and reground the piston rod. Strictly control the air and oil in the packing to ensure its cleanliness. Reassemble the piston rod and packing, and adjust their matching clearance appropriately.

Reassemble the piston rod without deflection. During use, it is necessary to clean and change the oil, and adjust the amount of oil supplied.

1. Check the lubrication system: Ensure that the lubrication system is operating normally and that the supply of grease or lubricating oil is sufficient. If there is poor lubrication, excessive heat will be generated by piston rod friction.

2. Clean the piston rod surface: Accumulation of dust, grease or other dirt on the piston rod surface may cause overheating. Clean the piston rod surface with a suitable cleaner and tool to ensure it is smooth and clean.

3. Check the seals: The seals on the piston rod, such as seal rings, may be worn or degraded, causing lubricant to leak or enter the environment around the piston rod. Check for and replace any worn or worn seals.

4. Check the installation of the piston rod: Make sure the piston rod is installed correctly and not too tight or too loose. An over-tight fit may cause increased friction and thus overheating.

5. Check the working environment: the overheating of the piston rod may also be related to the high ambient temperature. Make sure that the machine or equipment is running at the proper temperature and avoids overheating.
